Spring Composition Box for Gina's Designs

Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.  I (Shanna) am excited to help give you a little more Spring inspiration. I created a Spring Composition Box.

I decided to go with some Graphic 45 papers that screamed SPRING to me.

Then I painted the my little boxes with a dark gray acrylic paint. Then I covered it with a crackle medium and went over the top of that with an ivory acrylic.

Then decided to go full force with yellow embossing powder to cover the word Spring. I also used silver glitter on the box behind Spring. I think the sparkle in the back really helps the world pop even more.

The key I gave several layers of Distress Paints to make it look it patina style.

This box got a coat of Drab Art Anthology on the back wall. I popped out these adorable girls and laid some moss and flowers down.

This box is just plain with moss and a birdhouse. I even gave it a title of birdhouse.

I love the waterman too this was a bit fun to play with. I coated the can and then scraped some of the paint off to give it lines. I then added some extra ink and some crackle accents for some extra oomph.

The last piece I added was the flower planter. I added layers of Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain to the planter part. Then I added Shamrock Art Anthology paint to the stems and leaves. Lastly I used more Distress Paints on the flowers and then a coat of crackle accents.

I added more flowers from Prima and Petaloo to the bottom on top of the moss. I thought it finished off the look. Thank you so much for stopping by. Remember keep coming by for more inspiration from he rest of the team.

Feed Your Soul Daily

Hello everyone and welcome to a new and awesome day for inspiration.
Shanna here with a new art journal spread to share and it was extremely fun to create as I was testing some colors out to see if I would like them.

I started out with the stamp Writing Circles Background - 19567 stamped it across my spread using the Mustard Seed Distress Paint, and with Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint I used the stamp Writing Triangles - 19571

I then splashed some Abandoned Coral Distress Stain on my craft mat, spritzed the puddle with water, and smoothed my pages in the puddles. I also did the same thing using some Mustard Seed Distress Ink. I really love the color scheme of this spread.

Then I started stamping the rest of my images with some black ink. I started with the Banksy Girl Watering TV Antennae - 19603, then stamped the Three Staples 19576 in a couple places, the

I stamped the Double Coffee Rings - 19568 on the opposite side of the journal to help create a little bit of a balance. I stamped my sentiment Feed Your Soul - 18926 on some white paper and cut it up to add it to the journal page using a gel medium.

I used my Big Brush pen to shadow the sentiment well make it pop and be bolder.

Swirls and Pearls

Today is a new challenge over at Loves Rubberstamps and we have a fun challenge to share with you all too!

I though since it is Spring I wanted to keep it all soft and pastel like.

The image was colored with copics and I inked all my edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I added the flowers and pearls along with the ribbon. This literally was the last of this ribbon too, just enough! So it turned out to be perfect.

The pearls were just the right shade too though and match the ribbon and flowers like AWESOME.

Thanks so much or stopping by and checking out my creation for the challenge.

Don't forget to check out the sponsor this week. These images are just so darn cute.

Art Journal Cover

Hello everyone!!!!

Super excited to share another new art journal piece I made. I wasn't quite with the first one after taking more time looking at it.

So I went on a mission to make one a little more cleaner and nicer looking.

So lots of gesso, modeling paste, and a little color this one turned out perfectly as I envisioned it.

I love adding gears when I can to any projects that need an extra touch!

I love the bee and the labels just amazing and fun to layer it all.

I added a little black here and there and loved it.

Here you can see my layers.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Keep coming back for more inspiration!

Safari Hut for Alpha Stamps

There is a new kit at over at Alpha Stamps and I had a blast creating with this one!!! I mean seriously the only thing limiting you on this one is yourself!

The April 2015 Kit is called Vintage Vagabond

Check out this staged hut I created using the lovely Serengeti 6x6 papers and the amazing new collage sheet called Out of Africa!

I loved creating dimension with the leaves around the trunk and safari gear.

No hut would be complete without some awesome masks. I loved using the postage stamps around the map too.

Now the suitcases!!!! Those were just way way too much fun (after several trial and errors trying to get the right size). I even got to use some Faux Suede on the box, the cream one. Can you see thoseTiny Brass Flat-Back Studs??? YES talk about extremely small fun and fabulous for an amazing attention to detail! I really loved the detail on the Vintage Travel Tags & Hardware Collage Sheet

I couldn't help creating from the Tiny Vintage Scrapbook Collage Sheet either! That was just tons of inky and gluing fun too!

So with a little trial and error as making matchboxes the right size can be a little tricky for people like me (ahem do things the hard way)!!!

Here is how I made the suitcases!

Start with the inside part of the box (aka the sliding in and out part of the matchbox).

It is good to know the size of what you want first before starting (or like me go through several trial and errors before you get it right). I wanted my box to be 1 1/2" by 1 1/8" and I wanted my depth of the box to be 1/2". Because I didn't plan on matting the inside though I added an extra 1/2" to the depth to fold over and cover my tabs, therefore my starting paper size was 3 1/2" by 3 1/8".

So once I had my starting paper,  I scored 1/2" and then 1" on every single side.

The red part I shaded to make sure I didn't cut off parts I needed (Don't laugh I know you have done it too). Then after the cutting off the red parts, I glued it all together.

Then I created the wrap for the matchbox. This part I kept doing first making things 20 times harder. It is SOOOOOOOO MUCH easier doing this after!

So my starting piece was a little easier to measure out this time. I just cut a strip of kraft paper 1 1/2" wide. Then sort of wrapped it around the box making sure to score where my little bend lines were.
I did tab the flap that glues to make sure you really couldn't see it. Sometimes paper isn't always straight no matter how many times you cut it and sticks out even when you glue it accurately ( or maybe it is user error lol).

No time for the fun parts.  I cute some faux suede fabric and inked the HAY out of the edges (I think it is finally time for my vintage photos DI pd to be re-inked) because foam applicators work easier on paper you have to work it on the suede a little harder! Glue on some hardware! As you can see these pieces are tiny...what better than a hat pin and some glossy accents to get them on there?

I added a drop of glue to my craft mat. Then I would dip the hat pin in the glue and dab a little in the spot I wanted to adhere my flat back stud. Sometimes I would have to dip the pin in a little more glue to pick up the stud but this method worked perfect for what I needed.

Once everything is adhered sit back and then enjoy what you created!

Don't forget to stop by the Alpha Stamps blog and check out more inspiration from others on the team and how they created amazing transformations using this awesome kit.

Stitching Faux or Real Challenge

Well HOW DO YOU DO????

I am doing AWESOME!!! It is a new week for more challenges and this one over at The Inky Chicks is such a fun one. I needed it as I don't stitch on my projects enough.

So this challenge we want to see your Stitching (FAUX or REAL)!  So show head over and check out what the rest of the team created for some amazing inspiration!

]

I of course choose a favorite stamp of mine that is just too sweet and precious. I colored her with copics to match the Magnolia Papers and then inked all my edges with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo).

I did some stitching not debase edges, then tucked in some thread underneath the flowers.

I do hope you get time to play with us this challenge.

Anything Goes

Hello to you all and welcome to a new Tuesday challenge over at Loves Rubber-stamps.

The challenge of course is ANYTHING GOES so make sure you play this week.

I of course went with another Magnolia image I had just waiting to be colored.

I loved how wonderful this card turned out because the flowers are lovely, the doily is perfect for a background, and the lace is just yummy.

Aren't these flowers just delicious? I really love how they look and make me enjoy the fact that Spring is here!

Don't forget to keep checking back for more inspiration and thank you so much for stopping by!

I decided to play with the new Build a Layout Easter set and make an Easter shrine based on Nichola's fun tutorial she recently shared.

I decided to do a little tutorial myself on how to alter the egg chipboard pieces.  Check it out here!

I loved popping them out giving them dimension to really fill in the shrine.
