Mermaid Pearls in a Bottle

Here is my second post of the day. So befitting since I am at the beach with my family. So scroll down to check out my other post as well.

Well it is basically Summer and nothing says Summer than some mermaid pearls that have been collected and bottled up for some magical potions or spells right?

I loved playing with the June Kit from Alpha Stamps.

So I totally got to thinking of mermaids once I found out this was going to be our kit. And no not the cute kind like Ariel and her sisters under the sea. More like the ones from Pirates of the Caribbean that are pretty when they want but scary ugly.

So got to thinking how in the movie they needed mermaid tears, well I decided to go with mermaid pearls. Not sure is mermaids have eggs or not but thought it would be nice if their eggs were like beautiful pearls and how special it would be to bottle them up like something priceless for those magical spells.

So I got to thinking I need a bottle and it needs to be prettied up.

I got to making some frames using the Oval Mirror Frame Silicone Mold but I wasn't sure what look I wanted so I played with different resins and filled each mold up until I could figure out which one I wanted to play with and if I wanted clear resin or white!

I used some alcohol ink on some gold dresden trim.

Then I thought about charms hanging from a bottle and filled some Tiny Glass Bottles at the bottom with some glossy accents then poured a little bit of sand in.

I added some shells from the Cheetah Shell Mix and from the SeaShells in the plastic tin that fit in the tiny bottles then started adding some clear ICE resin

I added just a little bit of the alcohol ink into the resin (I mean a little not even a whole drop).

Then I got some of these Eye Pins and trimmed them down with some wire cutters and used my pliers to sink it down into the cork lid.

Then I got my bottle and started painting it up with Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paints.

Once my bottle was dry, I rubbed in random areas some Viva Decor Inka Gold, giving the bottle a shimmery effect. Then I started to add everything.

I used some chain from my stash and jump rings to hang some of the lovely charms from the Mermaid Kit like the 1/2" Bronze Starfish Charm, the Large Bronze Mermaid Pendant, and Small Seahorse Charms. I also weaved some of the blue seam binding ribbon from the Summer Sea Silk Ribbon Set through the chain.

I tied up a lot of trim from The Sea Fiber Set through main cork of the bottle and adding more to the trim. I used some wire to create a loop for the top of the cork but these Memo Pins would be perfect.

I got these lovely Iridescent Glass Micro Beads in a bottle from the kit and added them into the frame with glossy accents.

The frame I finally picked was painted with the new Fossilized Amber Distress Paint, I typed up the sentiment Mermaid Pearls and glued that to the back of the frame, then mounted it on this awesome Gold Dresden Halo.

I played around with some sea glass, there are Blue & White, Green & Yellow, and Red & Brown, wrapping them with come Copper Wire. I wasn't sure which one I wanted to use on the bottle, but I went for the red one for a pop of color.

Here you can see where I used the Gold Halos on the back of the bottle, putting a Brass Clam Shell, painted with Salty Ocean Distress Paint the middle.

I used an image from the Mermaids #3 Collage Sheet and glued it to the front of the bottle. Then I wrapped the top and bottom with the Gold Dresden Trim I colored with the alcohol ink before I got started.

I also poked a few holes in the sea shells to make them into charms as well.

So will you be buying some mermaid pearls??
Don't forget to check out the June kit!
